The Sunshine Blogger Award

This week, I was thrilled to see that my blog had been nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award. Having done a little research into the award, I was excited to see that The Sunshine Blogger Award is given by fellow blogging peers to “those who are creative, positive, and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.” This is such a wonderful encouragement, that someone felt I deserved this. Thank you agirlwhowrites at The Quill.

The rules/guidelines:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog so others can find them.

2. Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.

3. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.

4. Notify the nominees about it by commenting on one of their blog posts.

5. List the rules on your post and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post and/or your blog site.

Answers to agirlwhowrites questions for me:

If you could shuttle between now and at some point in the past or future, which event / historical period would you choose?

I would have loved to have been a teenager in London during the 60’s. It seems to have been a time full of excitement and anticipation for the future and the transition from the more constrained 50’s to the technicolor 60’s must have been so freeing. It must have been mind-blowing, the sense of freedom in fashion, music, art and culture. I can imagine it was such an exciting time.

White or black? And why?

Both! I seem to relate these colours to light and darkness. Without the darkness we wouldn’t appreciate the light so both have value.

Do you think morality is relative, or is it absolute?

I believe that morals are rooted in the value we place on ourselves and others, the innate and genuine instinct to treat ourselves, each other and the world as if they truly matter and deserve to be cherished. In this sense, it would be absolute.

Name one work of art that changed your life.

Personally, I see cinema as art and for me, Frank Capra’s, ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ is something that really resonates with me. It highlights the true importance of family, love and community and how we should never forget its value.

A crazy monster is about to charge at you. Describe the funniest, most creative way you’re going to fight it and hold your ground (You can describe the monster too).

Lay down, stay very still and act as though I am already dead! I would hold my ground by literally laying on it, limp and lifeless.

Depict your blog in five numbers and explain why you chose them.

Christian girl’s journey, whose heart was broke in 2. Finding 3dom from control. Searching 4 peace as I walk through the valley with Jesus by my side. Holding onto 5 truths: I am God’s child, I am loved, I am blessed, I am important, I have a future.

I chose these 5 as I am still on my journey and taking things step by step, 1,2,3,4,5.

Expand the following acronym so as to closely describe the most dominant side of your personality: ALACKRE

A – Anxious, L – Loyal, A – Appreciative, C – Caring, K – Kind, R – Real, E – Enthusiastic.

You need to choose between a single page of wisdom and a whole blank book of a thousand pages. Which do you pick and why?

I would pick the blank book, because to be alive is to make our own mistakes, uncover our own revalations, form our own ideas and learn our own lessons.

What’s the best thing you love about yourself?

Through this year, I have learnt that I am stronger than I thought I was and I am really proud of that. It is something I am starting to love about myself.

You have the authority to declare that one day in the year be devoted to some special person/cause. What do you devote it to?

I would devote it to those who are trying to overcome their own challenges, whatever they may be. Everyday, people are faced with challenges, hurdles and traumas that they didn’t deserve or ask for but are working so hard to overcome; illness, loss, abandonment. It is a universal experience. I would like to hope that my blog could in some way play a tiny part in helping someone find the encouragement they need to continue their journey through the struggles and trials they may be facing.

You get one minute to talk to a powerful person/ entity. The entity will change whatever you want it to change, but you only get one minute to talk and no more. You only have one chance. What do you talk of?

I would talk of healing and hope. This is something I talk to God about alot. Everyone of us needs healing at some point of our lives, whether it be emotional, phyiscal or spiritual. Hope is also what gives us the strength to go on, the ability to create change and the promise of a better tomorrow. I would ask for more hope to be placed in peoples hearts and all the blessings that this brings.

Congrats on your well-deserved award! Wow, depicting your blog by numbers is a tricky one, you did well with that. I’d also go for the playing dead approach to monsters, then I’d take a nap until he’s gone! Thank you very much for the kind nomination 🙂
